Raoul van Wijk

Creative strategist, entrepreneur and maker

I see where the opportunity is.

Then I work it out myself, into a pitch, a design or a working product.

What you can bring me in for

Four questions I often help with. Sometimes all of them, often just one.

Is there something in this?

You have a brand, a product or an idea and want to know whether there's more in it. I work out how the market and the audience tick, and develop the opportunity into a proposal you can make a decision on.

  • Proposition development
  • Commercial judgement
  • Entrepreneurship

I weigh up what it could bring in, what it costs and who has to do the work. Having built companies myself, I look at an idea as a business as well. Sometimes the answer is that you're better off not doing it, which is a useful answer too.

Who cares about this?

A product can matter to different groups for different reasons. I find out who they are, what they talk about and which part of the story fits them.

  • Audience insight
  • Communities and PR
  • Positioning

The angle, the messengers and the channels follow from there. With a big budget you can buy reach. Most organisations have to choose where to put their time and money. Sometimes that's a small group that fits the product well, sometimes a broad audience. The core of the story stays the same; what changes per group is what you show and who tells it. How people find you through search engines and AI search is part of that choice too.

How do we make this convincing?

I come up with the angle, build the argument, write the copy and design the presentation. I make the content and the form myself, so they support each other. At Vertigo 6 I worked this way on pitches for EA, Disney, Logitech and UEFA, among others.

  • Concept and story
  • Pitch decks
  • Visual design

I think about what someone needs to understand, what makes the idea interesting and how to show that in a few minutes. That takes a lot of digging: examples, numbers, references and new tools. I keep what helps the story and leave out the rest. Pitches are often confidential, so you won't find them here. I'm happy to talk about them in person.

How is this going to work?

An idea only becomes clear once you can try it. I turn it into screens and a working prototype, test it with people and get it ready for launch.

  • UX/UI
  • Prototypes
  • Product development

I design and build myself, using AI in the development work. That makes it quick to try something, change it and test it again before much time or money goes in.

The agency I helped build, and a few projects up close.

Vertigo 6

2015-2026

In 2015 I started Vertigo 6 with my business partners. With them and a growing team, we built it into the agency that topped the FONK100 in 2021. I worked on clients, pitches, campaigns and the agency itself. Vertigo 6 has been part of Happy Horizon since 2020.

Recognition for the agency

What I'm building now

Some ideas I want to make myself. I do that under the name Wrong Floor.

Wrong Floor

My own studio for digital products and experiments. For every product I first decide who it's for. That shapes what I build and how I explain it.

Tibo, a tool for youth football coaches

Tibo

As a youth football coach, I wanted an overview of substitutions and playing time during matches. That became Tibo, for coaches who want every child to get fair playing time.

De Achterbankclub app

De Achterbankclub

An offline game app for long car journeys. The child runs the game and the rest of the car plays along.

Embargo Timer

A small tool from everyday PR work. Enter one embargo time and get every relevant time zone back, ready to paste into an email.

About

I've been making websites since I was thirteen.

Making websites and digital tools started as a hobby and later turned into freelance web and print work, alongside my degree in Communication and Multimedia Design. Design and technology have been a common thread ever since.

At Codemasters I ended up in the world of games, marketing and PR. In 2015 I started Vertigo 6 with my business partners and helped build it until mid-2026.

I want to know how things work. So I read up, try new tools, and design and build until there's something I can show. These days I do that for brands and for my own products.

I like good ideas and getting them made, preferably without turning everything into a twelve-week process.
